Enjoy a two hour experience including up to one hour of trail riding- depending on conditions and abilities. Workshops are moderately, physically demanding. Find answers to common questions about the Sugardogs Adventure Company.

Full payment is due upon receipt of invoice to secure a booking. We do not accept deposits or partial payments. We accept payment via Canadian e-transfer to sugardogsco@gmail.com. If you are booking from outside of Canada, we can accept payment via Wise or Paypal: Payee is responsible for any charges/currency conversion etc. As of Dec 2025, Paypal charges 3.9% on the total amount sent and we charge this directly on your invoice. We cannot accept credit card payments due to their inconvenience and cost.

Your booking is only secure once full payment is received:

  • Due to our short working season and high demand of our workshops, once particulars are sent to you, decisions should be made on a timely basis to avoid disappointment:
  • Once we receive your initial inquiry, we ask specific questions in order to determine if we can accommodate your group and how we need to plan our dog teams.
  • We use this strict policy because we rely on our workshops to provide the best care we can for our dogs and cannot wait for changing minds.
  • If you are booking at high demand times (Dec-March – holidays + weekends), we ask that you provide detailed answers as quickly as possible as available timeslots book up extremely quickly. For example, if you wait for two or three days to reply to pertinent questions, we’ve likely already booked that timeslot, that’s how quickly they go.

We appreciate your understanding. Our number one goal is always to provide the absolute best care we can for our Sugardogs family. Utilising strict practices allows us to maximize our short season and continue using best practices to maintain a sustainable kennel with happy, healthy and well-loved dogs!

Dogsledding exists at the intersection of skill and chaos. We (humans & dogs) work together to connect symbiotically and do something exhilarating. We have the skill to teach you how to work safely with our dogs and have a memorable & unique experience.

It’s best to arrive with an open mind! What to Expect: This is not a jump-on-jump-off “tour.” This a workshop designed for the adventurous who can navigate small challenges in winter conditions –with our help of course! You may have seen people dogsledding online, traveling flat, perfectly groomed trails. Our forest trails include loops, turns, gentle inclines and declines – they are not straight and flat all of the way.

You will be expected to be physically able to help the dogs along the trail when they need it, just as they help you. Our trails are slightly technical and a great way to learn how to run a team. We are off-grid with one outhouse on site.

Our preferred group size per time slot (10am or 1pm) is 1-3 people. We offer a Group Experience for 4-8ppl where there are separate trail runs for the group run out of our base camp/hot tent. If you have a larger group, please inquire.

The Signature Workshop, for 1-3 people, is roughly 2 hours with up to one hour actively on the trail. Our Group Experience is approx. 3-3.5 hours which includes active time on the trail and time at base camp/hot tent for rest/photos/optional lunch. In our Group Experience, participants will be taking turns guiding or riding the sled as we switch turns at our base camp.

Average to slightly more than average fitness is ideal for this activity. Any special needs are always considered. Youth ages 16+ may be able to drive a sled – that would be determined on site.

Even if riding in the sled basket, each person must be able to step out into deep snow and walk a short distance in case of any challenges along the trail.

Yes. The varying weights of individuals plays an integral part in how your workshop is planned. Upon booking, we’ll be asking weights, ages and other important questions so we can plan a fun & successful experience for you. Unfortunately we cannot accept anyone under the age of four yrs old.

We provide our dogs, our land, our equipment and our skills. It is a guided experience, however we do not provide outdoor gear. * We do not provide helmets. If you would like to have one for the trip, please provide your own. An optional hot lunch is available upon request. Please inquire for a menu & pricing.

Unfortunately, there are no convenient options for public transportation and we don’t offer transportation options. Driving is the best way to reach us. If you require transportation, you must source it out independently. Please be advised the vehicle you’re using to get to us should be winter ready. Exciting news for 2026!

The Northlander Train will be offering a route from Toronto’s Union Station all the way north to Cochrane with a stop in South River , just ten minutes from our location.

Our dogs are a pack and have their own social structure and leadership role(s). For everyone’s safety, we cannot welcome other animals into their environment.
